Brendan Mackey is Professor and Director of the Climate Action Beacon at Griffith University, Australia https://www.griffith.edu.au/research/climate-action. He has published extensively on the science of connectivity conservation, the role of forest ecosystems in climate mitigation, climate risk assessment and adaptation planning, and natural heritage assessment, including landmark reports, book chapters and journal articles.
Prof Mackey served on the IUCN Council from 2009-2016. He was a Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC 6th Assessment Report and is currently a review editor for the IPCC 7th Assessment Report.
Prof Mackey has written over 300 academic publications and his current research is focused on climate and biodiversity in the context of climate resilient development.
