Julie was a long-standing member of the GER family from the earliest days, having been instrumental in establishing the Border Ranges Alliance in 2008 and the Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance in 2012.
Julie worked as an environmental consultant based in Northern NSW, providing professional services in strategic planning and facilitation for the natural resource & environment management industries – with particular emphasis on biodiversity conservation projects, programs and partnerships.
Julie chaired the Jaliigirr Biodiversity Alliance, was a board member of Northern Rivers Catchment Authority and a former member of the NSW Rural Women’s Network. In 2016 she joined the leadership group responsible for establishing GER as an independent charity, and subsequently served as a founding member of the board through 2017 and 2018.
Julie’s experience and skill in community development played a critical role in GER’s successful transition to an independent NGO. Sadly, she passed away in 2019 following lengthy illness. Julie’s vision, depth of knowledge and strategic thinking is sorely missed by all who knew and worked with her, but the legacy of her life’s work persists.
