Joel is a Certified Environmental Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in environmental assessment, management and conservation, including 15 years in local government and 10 years in wildlife conservation.

Joel has looked to achieve positive environmental outcomes in all his roles and has been involved in projects including creek and urban reserve restoration programs, renewable energy installations, citizen science programs, policy development and endangered species reintroductions.

Joel has held roles in the not-for-profit sector including the Australian Ecosystems Foundation Inc and managed endangered species conservation programs in NSW, Victoria and South Australia. Prior to his role with GER, he was the Senior Environmental Officer at the Bathurst Regional Council and a committee member of the Central West Council’s Environment and Waterways Alliance, and the Australasian Land & Groundwater Association’s Local Government Specialist Interest Group.

Joel and is his wife also manage a small eco-tourism and wildlife conservation business near Bathurst, NSW.
