James O’Connor

Regional Programs Manager (Science and Wildlife)

James is GER’s Regional Programs Manager (Science and Wildlife). He is currently working across a number of landscapes on bushfire and flood recovery projects, and developing a monitoring program.

Prior to his role with GER, James was BirdLife Australia’s Head of Science and Research from the organisation’s inception in 2011, and before that was Research Manager at Birds Australia from 2008, roles in which he developed and managed a diverse portfolio of conservation and research oriented programs aimed at improving the status of Australia’s threatened avifauna and their habitats, as well as the national monitoring and reporting program, the State of Australia’s Birds report series, and the development of Australia’s first Threatened Species Index.
