During the last drought, residents of Bellingen on the NSW north coast were distressed to see grey-headed flying foxes struggling to survive. It prompted some landholders to get involved in Planting for Pollinators. The project is working with ecologist Dr Peggy Eby and local communities to restore and reconnect nectar-rich trees across eastern Australia to boost sources of food for native birds and bats.
By putting the right nectar-rich trees back into our landscapes in the right places, Planting for Pollinators provides pollinators with the energy-rich food they need to thrive whilst securing the vital services they provide.
